Hi,Clarissa.
Long ago I read the Chinese version of the joke. I like this joke very much. But I never expected that Japanese has "Wan Wan" or "One One" for "Woof!Woof!". Coincidentally, my native language Chinese also uses "One One" or "Wang Wang" to imitate the dog's barking.
I like this simple but interesting joke.

Clarissa,

Just stumbled across your blog through Twitter. I like what you've put together here, and will be a frequent visitor. Liked the story, too.

Good luck with finishing your Master's Degree. That's the next step for me!

Hi, Ei! Well, I think the joke is supposed to be the same in Japanese and English. There's no pun on "wan wan," just the idea that the mouse is speaking in dog "language" to the cat, who's scared of it.

(But I bet you could write a joke based on "one one" somehow...)
